Last night I headed over to Victoria House to check out the London College of Fashion MA12 preview exhibition. As an LCF alumni myself, I was really excited and a bit emotional to see the amazing works these students have come up with.
We were greeted by this impressive selection of work. The students were given the task to reinterpret some classic runway looks to show both their technical skills and their ability to update a look for new season trends.
There was also a chance to check out in detail the work of footwear and accessory design students as well as some amazing fashion photography and curation.
These shoes are the work of Beijing born Michelle Zhoe, who told us the inspiration for her use of ceramics came from ancient Chinese tradition. She let me pick a pair up and check them out and the feel of the ceramics is really beautiful. Michelle wanted to create the illusion of water and the ocean, with the multi-tonal ceramics representing the layers and movement of the water.
There was also amazing photography on show including these stunning 3D images by Roberto Aguilar and the one above by Joanna Natalija Gourey…
I was so inspired to see all the new talent coming up through LCF. Keep an eye out for these kids as the next great British fashion talent is surely among them.

The LCF MA12 catwalk show is at The V&A this Thurday and we’ll have a full report on Friday.
