Music: Vice at Lovebox

We just thought we’d give a shout out to our friends at Vice who are hosting an area at Lovebox on Friday 15th July. With acts including Flying Lotus and Spank Rock playing live, it’s definitely worth checking out if you are heading over there and getting tickets for if you haven’t already. Also tickets for Friday are only £28.50 making it the best value music fest in London this summer (we spent close to 100 squid on a day ticket to Hop Farm yesterday but more on that to come).

As you may well know, Lovebox started out as a club night run by Groove Armada in 2002 with the first festival event in 2003 as their first anniversary party. Since then it has gone from strength to strength, attracting massive acts and a crowd who know that this is also the best place to find new emerging acts before they play the bigger commercial festivals. This year’s line-up shows how imaginative the organisers are. There is a healthy mix of hip-hop, electro, dance music, dub and indie. Acts playing this year include Snoop Dogg, Metronomy, Young Knives and Katy B, to prove the point.

Friday is Bang The Box and is curated by Lovebox’s younger siblings and aimed at a crowd who are more concerned with seeing new music and getting mashed up than with seeing the bigger acts. We at OhDearism cannot wait to go and roll around in the Vice arena and tip Flying Lotus as the act to definitely check out. The 27-year-old Californian makes experimental psychedelic hip-hop and will definitely set revelers up for the weekend ahead!
